Anti Personnel
It
can be said that any bomb is anti-personnel in that it can cause death of
personal injuries. This description usually applies to small explosive charges
whose objective is not to destroy vehicles or buildings, but only nearby people.
The effect may be increased by adding fragmentation materials to the explosive
charge. This is known as "shrapnel", and is designed to create
more severe wounds, cause more pain, and result in injuries to people some
considerable distance away from the immediate blast site.
