Modular
Kit ITA-179-A is a lockable molded plastic attaché case. It contains one fiberglass reinforced plastic board the same length and
width as the interior dimensions of the attaché case covered on both sides with
Velcro loop cloth . There are sixteen removable items, each one backed by Velcro
hook tape. In a training or test situation, every item can be used alone or in
combination and can be inserted into another piece of luggage. The items can be
assembled together to build an inert IED, or they can be used individually, to
be hidden in difficult areas in luggage - such as in corners, under dense items,
and along structural frame elements.
It
contains x-ray correct representations of a dynamite cartridge, sheet explosive
and a demolition block, all inert; 8 electric detonators (blasting caps) with
bridgewire assemblies, an electronic countdown timer and a mechanical (windup)
timer, a 9 volt battery and two size AA batteries in a battery pack. It
also has two lengths of insulated hookup wire. Everything has Velcro hook tape
on it, and the items are attached to a Velcro loop surface cloth sheet on a thin
board. This allows for the user to easily transport, store and find the items in
the carrying case. The user can assemble several types of IEDs from the
components. The items can be individually inserted into the luggage to
train and test the security screener to detect explosives and bomb making
components.
Training
Aid ITA-179-B is an inert Improvised Explosive Device (IED) containing an
electronic countdown timer, an inert simulated plastic explosive demolition
block, two 1.5 volt batteries and an electric detonator with internal bridgewire
assembly inside.
Training
Aid ITA-179C is an inert Improvised Device with 3 inert simulated dynamite
cartridges taped together, an electronic timer, two 1.5 volt batteries in a
holder (or one 9 volt battery), an electric detonator with bridgewire assembly
inside. (These two inert IED training aids can be purchased separately.)
